with tractor clutch experts, it looks like I’m gonna be splittin’ the Ford open to replace the damaged PTO friction disc sooner rather than later :|

So post clutch replacement, are you going to try to spin that mower again or try to find a smaller mower that requires less than 30 hp or I suppose another option could be to slightly hot rod your tractor to increase the hp?

I’ve also got a 52HP tractor (Zetor 5211), but it’s not 4WD and weighs twice as much, so its no good for the fields if they’re a bit damp... I was hoping to be able to run the mower with either tractor... I think with a fresh, non-slipping clutch that the Ford can handle it.. Also the mower is brand new, i’ll see if i can break it in a little but with the Zetor, loosen up the belts, run the bearings in a little... That’ll probably also reduce the total system load a bit.
I’ve been considering putting a turbo on the Ford for a while too.. I’m having trouble finding one that has the right specs used, and I don’t want to pay $1200 for a new turbo, because I’m a cheap bastard. There are a few people who’ve turbo’d those little 3-cyl Fords with good results and no reliability issues in 1000+ hours of operation... Looks Like I could expect 40-45 HP safely.
